Born in Chicago to a Mexican father and Filipino mother, he grew up in a violent neighborhood and faced the harsh reality of his father’s schizophrenia diagnosis. With the weight of protecting his younger brothers, he navigated a childhood filled with confusion, love, and abuse. Despite experiencing homelessness in early adulthood, he refused to give up. His experiences led him to create SALT Outreach, an organization providing dignity and hope to people experiencing homelessness through mobile drop-in centers offering showers, laundry services, mental health counseling, and more.
